ToolZool sets none of its own. Every cookie below belongs to an analytics provider, and none is set until you allow analytics in the consent banner.

Microsoft Clarity sets two cookies on this domain and five on Microsoft’s own. The third-party ones are the part worth reading twice: they are shared with Microsoft across every site that uses Clarity, and one of them is an advertising identifier.

Microsoft publishes the list of Clarity’s cookies and how long each is kept.

Decline, or change your answer later from Cookie settings at the foot of every page, and none of them is set and neither analytics script is loaded again.

Two values live in your browser’s local storage. Local storage is not a cookie: it is never attached to a request, so neither value is transmitted anywhere, and neither can be read by another site.

Neither is required. Block or clear them and every tool works exactly the same; the site falls back to following your device’s appearance setting, and to asking about consent again.

We treat the appearance value as essential rather than as something to ask permission for. Remembering which colours you picked is not tracking, and putting it behind a banner would teach people that the banner means nothing.

Analytics is Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity, and both run only if you allow it — the privacy policy says exactly what each one sends.

No advertising is running on this site: there are no ad units, and nothing is requested from an ad network. One honest qualification, though. If you allow analytics, Clarity causes Microsoft to set MUID, and Microsoft uses that identifier for advertising elsewhere in its own products. We do not read it, no advertiser is paid for it, and it exists because Clarity is a Microsoft product rather than because this site sells advertising — but it is an advertising identifier on your device, so it is named here rather than left out.

When advertising does go live, the banner will ask about it separately, and this page gains a dated revision saying exactly what was added.

Your browser’s “clear site data” for this domain removes both local values and the cookies set on this domain immediately. The Microsoft cookies are on Microsoft’s domains, so clearing them means clearing cookies for those sites too, or declining analytics in the first place.

Analytics data already sent is kept by Google Analytics for 14 months and then deleted. Microsoft keeps Clarity data under its own retention terms, which its privacy statement sets out.
