Why did my PDF barely shrink?
Text and vector content is already compact. Most of the weight in a large PDF is scanned pages or embedded photographs, so a text-only document has little left to remove.
Will the text stay selectable?
Yes. Compression targets embedded images; text layers and their encoding are left intact, so search and copy still work.
