Why no video compressor yet?
Re-encoding video means shipping a codec suite into the page — tens of megabytes of WebAssembly — and even then a phone will take minutes on a short clip. It is worth doing properly, with honest benchmarks, rather than shipping something that times out.
Does frame extraction upload my video?
No. The file is played into a hidden canvas locally, frame by frame. Nothing is transmitted, which is also why it works on a file too large to upload.
Which formats can I open?
Whatever your browser plays: MP4 and WebM everywhere, MOV in Safari and most Chromium builds. If your browser cannot play it, this cannot read it.
